QR Code: Creators

QR codes are an increasingly popular two dimensional barcode that can store large amounts of data. The stored information is easily read by using a downloaded application on a cell phone (with a camera). The codes are being found everywhere and a simple scan will allow access to the info. It may include video, audio or text and can be saved to the phone for future reference.

Generating a single QR code is easy. It requires using a QR creator. Free QR code creators can be found on the internet. There are several to choose from. All that is required is for you to enter the information you wish to include in the spaces provided. It is a fill in the blank type of process. You will have the opportunity to choose the type of content you want and the size of the QR code. Different sizes are available to suit the need of the user. For instance you would use a much smaller QR code on a business card than you would on a sign in the window of your store.

The QR code creators that are available offer different options for the user. Many of the QR creators will direct you to a website. It is extremely important to be sure that the website you are redirecting to is mobile friendly. Many websites do not transfer to mobile format and that renders your QR code useless. If you want your QR code to connect the user to some other media such as a phone number or video information be sure to seek out a QR code creator that can achieve that goal for you.

Some of the more popular free QR code creators are: Kaywa, Kerem Erkan, Zxing, and Snap.vu. Each QR creator has its own merit but they do offer different options. It is important to check out more than one of the generators available and find the one that suits your needs. Snap.vu will store statistics on the use of your QR codes. Kerem Erkan offers 20 choices as to the type of code that can be created. A Kerem Erkan can even imbed your QR code with a Foursquare location. Zxing can connect the scanner to a Wifi network. Kaywa is touted as one of the simplest free QR code creators available to the public.

Figure out what data you want people who scan your code to have access to. Search for a generator that can allow that access. Don’t be afraid to try more than one. A distinct advantage to the fact that the creation of the codes is free is that you can try a few sites and see which one actually does the job for you. QR codes can be a fun and interesting way to promote your company or even yourself. And there is not a lot of work or expense involved!
